Elusive touches of black and white
intertwining and twisting writhing
forming streams of gray reality
smothered by exclusive rights
and privileges given and taken away
to love and hold but only at the whim
of one who makes the rules based on
a set of values, principles untested
floating in a mist of extraneous color
music drifts past with gifts of rainbows
smells and tastes of food cooked and eaten
provided out of liking and wanting to know
yet snatched away by the gray areas
stated colors of indecision and finality
uncertainty and longing for clarity
experiences to discover what
to catch up on what was missed
and clinging somewhat frailly
to what is already here just in case
