I sit and wait for the pain to subside
Burning crushing crippling pain
Fuzzy lights obscure my sight
Breath is but a memory
Sharp pain and then some more
Electric current runs through me
Rapid beating of my heart
Dying and trying to live
Lethal injection of life saving drugs
Kick start my person back to the day
Burning crushing crippling pain
I’m dead and still I feel
People working pumping and breathing
Blessed oblivion of unconsciousness
Waking slowly to pink walls
Hospital gowns and nurses
Drugs to thin my blood, rat poison
Told to live an easy life, or die
Going home and dreaming
Of a future filled with hope
